GENERATING PHOTOS IN WEBP PRO FORMAT [PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7, 8.x]

The module creates the file automatically. htaccess with redirects to newly created photos, we can change the extension to .webp (if the browser supports the webp format ), otherwise the photo will have the jpg extension. We can leave the files unchanged, the server automatically checks if the client's browser supports the given format, if so, it sends the photo in webp format, if not the photo is sent as jpg . 

Webp Pro module - helps in optimizing the store in terms of  google page speed . Resolves the issue:  Display images in next-generation formats.

What photos are compressed? Webp - are created for jpg, png.

The WebP polyfill library has been implemented in the module  - it enables additional compatibility with old browsers.
